About the Forum

Why have we created the Small Public Company Forum?

As smaller reporting companies begin implementing the final stages of Sarbanes-Oxley Act reform, the costs of being a public reporting company continue to mount. In this context, smaller reporting companies need—more than ever—to stay informed and obtain advice about new and developing issues in a way that sensibly recognizes their budgeting and personnel constraints, and their tolerance for risk.  In answer to this, the Small Public Company Forum has been created.

What is the Small Public Company Forum?

The Small Public Company Forum is the first of its kind in the nation—an ongoing forum geared specifically toward smaller reporting companies.  In founding the Forum, our goals are to:

• provide smaller reporting companies with up-to-date information about the most important legal, accounting and business matters that are critical and unique to small public companies

• provide various best practices recommended by professionals who are fluent in right-sizing their services for small public companies

• foster creative thinking and share insights into the practices utilized by management at similarly sized companies across a variety of different industries

We intend for the Forum to convene live gatherings on a periodic basis.  At the live events, we expect to cover the most important and current issues facing smaller reporting companies.  Through the website, we intend to facilitate idea sharing, provide written articles containing important legal and accounting updates, enable feedback on the live events, and enable you to ask questions and receive answers about various issues.  There is no “membership” in the Forum, and no charge or cost to participate in the Forum.

While the professional participants in the Forum’s first live event have founded the Forum, over time we wish for the smaller reporting companies themselves to view the Forum as their own.  To that end, we hope that you will visit the website regularly and, while you are there, make suggestions about topics or issues you would like to see addressed in a written website article or at a future Forum event.
